Our Annual Christmas CardWe always take a holiday photo at Christmas. Here is ours for this year. This is my husband and I who are almost 70 years young. We enclosed this with our Christmas cards and it says:
Holiday: Blooper BannerI bought this banner on sale for my husband's Christmas party when it was our turn to be the hosts. I didn't even look at it while I was hanging it: I just taped it up on the wall and then starting doing other things.
Holiday: Christmas EveA picture of our house taken on Christmas Eve, just before Santa arrived.
Holiday: A Very Hairy ChristmasA good friend of mine recently cut his hair after years of letting it grow. I helped him pose for this holiday picture. He is always up for something crazy!
Holiday: Thrifty Christmas DecoratingI'd like to showcase my home for the Holidays. Its small and cozy. Each room has been redone by me. On the tree are some hand made ornaments. I used a tree we cut down. I dried the wood cut it like disks.
Holiday: Front Door Christmas CrossWe have had this particular door for years and I noticed that it had a "natural" cross in it. Well, this year, I decided that I would work with that natural cross for my outdoor decoration.
Holiday: Christmas Dining RoomThis is my dining room that I just finished.
Christmas Decorations: "Fred and Ethel" Bird FiguresI picked these two cuties up at a Party City last year. I went there to get some other things and found them by the check-out. They'll have a spot on my entry way table each year at Christmas. We call them "Fred and "Ethel". ;-)
Christmas: Shepard CatHere is a picture of our cat (his name is Desmond Morton) in the middle, dressed like a shepherd with my sheep.
Make Funny Faces For Family Group PhotoThis photo was taken in 2008 for our family picture, at Walmart. We had a great time.
Baby's First Christmas CardThis was the picture we used for our son's first Christmas card! It was so much fun and he was such a great sport! Luke was 5 months old in this picture.
Christmas Wrapping for the WifeIf you're going to wrap yourself for the wife, be creative
Craft: Gingerbread HousesHere is a great tradition that our family has been doing for years now. It all started about 50 years ago when I decide to make a gingerbread house for Christmas. My first ones were fairly simple but over the years have gotten more complicated and quite intricate. Now, as was bound to happen, the kids and grandkids and even my great grandson have taken over.
Craft: Nikon Camera OrnamentI couldn't find a camera ornament for my photographer daughter, so I made one. Hope she likes it. I do!
Craft: Photo With Holiday CharactersI got the idea from your site. I decided to add some of our favorite holiday shows to the picture.
Christmas Card Photo Featuring a Pregnant BellyI wanted a cute way to incorporate my big pregnant belly in our Christmas card. So I painted my belly like the face of a snowman and built the rest with some large balls.
Our Trip on the Polar ExpressLast year, we gave our boys, then 7 and 5, a trip on the Polar Express. We were unable to do it on Christmas Eve so we did it the day before. It was a total surprise. The train was in Hood River, about an hour away from our home.
Caiden At ChristmasThis is my just turned one-year-old son, Caiden. I took this a few weeks before Christmas. He had pulled the tree skirt from around the tree. I was in another room, and he called to me. When I looked in, he was wrapped up in it just like this!
Under The Christmas TreePresents under our tree. My daughter made my Webkinz a beautiful red sweater.
Little Christmas DeerMy little deer at our family Christmas party with a whole plate of Christmas cookies.
Clever Christmas CardsThree years of clever photos taken for Christmas cards.
Grandmom and Grandpop ReindeerChristmas fun. Our whole family wears Christmas antlers when we open our presents, it is too cute.
Prize Winning Christmas LookI won first prize for my Christmas look, an airline ticket to Ireland. Everybody appreciates it when we care enough to release the child in us and allow ourselves to be playful, no matter how old we are!
Anna in the Christmas SpiritThis is a picture of my 15 month old granddaughter, Anna really getting into the Christmas spirit!
Holiday Ornaments for Soldiers OverseasMy students wanted to create a holiday greeting for our soldiers overseas. I had a box of unusual shaped tiles that looked to resemble a holiday ornament. I spray painted them. When dried, the students wrote holiday greetings on one side of both tiles. We finished them up by gluing the two pieces together, adding a hanging ribbon and a bow on top. The soldiers who came to pick them up from Fort Dix loved them and told the kids they were sure they'd be a hit overseas!
AAHHHHH!Little one in front of the tree.
Megan's First ChristmasHere's Megan all decked out for her first Christmas!
Snowman Soup (Sugar and Fat Free)This is my Christmas tip. I have a friend who is diabetic, and cannot have anything with sugar, but also cannot use Nutrasweet as it gives him headaches. So I devised a sugar free (also fat free) hot chocolate mix using Splenda.
Heart Tree OrnamentThree years ago, I made about 450 ornaments, hoping to sell them at the local Holiday show in Turner, OR. I think I still have oh...about 425 left! Not a great show and definitely my last.
Holiday Felt Wall HangingUsing only felt, buttons, and thread I hand sewed this Christmas wall hanging while watching TV at night!
Craft Project: Advent Paper ChainThere are many ways to count down to Christmas. There are songs about it. Retail has take a cue from the season and transformed it into a list of shopping deals for the holiday season. Each year at church, we take the month of December off from creating crafts about the children's bible stories and make Christmas themed crafts. The Sunday before the month of December, we usually make an Advent. This year, it was a paper chain.
Monogram OrnamentsMy daughter and I saw some cute monogram ornaments in a high end gift shop that sold for $7.95 each. My daughter wanted one, so I told her I could make them for pennies. I already had most of the supplies on hand leftover from other projects.
Fabric Can Lid OrnamentsLids cut from food cans using a side-cutting type can opener can be made into charming low-cost unique ornaments for the tree or wall hangings.
Christmas Kissing BallThis is a holiday decoration that not only adds delight to your Christmas spirit but also incorporates some Christmas tradition.
