Lace Frill Sock Snowman - cute little girl's sock snowmanHere is another idea of how a mismatched sock may become useful: by turning it into a sweet little snowman! It is winter after all!

Supplies:

Steps:

  1. Push a polystyrene ball into the toe of the sock. Tie a piece of crochet thread tightly around the bottom of the ball and make a knot before cutting off any remaining thread. The piece of sock below the ball will be part of the snowman's body.

  3. Use the knife to cut a small piece off the bottom of the second 65mm ball, so that the snowman will be able to stand.

  5. Put the second ball in the sock, pushing it right up to the first ball. Make sure that the part that has been cut off is at the bottom. Roll the bottom part of the sock up to the neck of the snowman, so that the second ball will be covered by a double layer of sock. Gather the rolled part of the sock around the neck and use the needle and thread to sew it neatly in place.

  7. Twist one pipe cleaner around the snowman's neck to make the arms. From the second pipe cleaner, cut two shorter pieces. On each side of the snowman, twist a shorter piece around the longer piece to complete the arms.

  9. Use the pink felt to make a scarf. At both ends of the strip of pink felt, make small incisions, so that it will look as if the scarf has fringes. Drape the scarf around the snowman's neck and glue it together where the two ends cross. Glue the brass button in place to complete the scarf.

  11. Glue the wiggle eyes in place. Push the yellow pin into the polystyrene ball to make a nose, and push the black pins into the polystyrene ball to make his mouth.

  13. Push the green pins into the bottom polystyrene ball to add three buttons.

  15. Cut a circle with a diameter of 4" from the green felt. Add a running stitch 0.4" from the edge of the circle, and draw the stitches in to create a hat. Measure the hat on the snowman's head before ending the running stitch with a secure knot. Glue the hat to the snowman's head. Cut a thin strip of purple felt and glue it all around the hat to hide the running stitches.
