Making a Mini String Christmas Tree

Total Time: 80 minutes (not including drying time)

Yield: 1 tree

Supplies:

• piece of paper
• tape
• scissors
• plastic wrap
• petroleum jelly
• white glue
• water
• string
• sugar sprinkles
• craft glue

Steps:

1. Roll the paper into a cone.

 
2. Tape up the sides so it won't unravel, then cut the base of the cone so it will stand up straight.

 
3. Wrap the cone with a layer of plastic wrap, tucking the excess up into the base of the cone.

4. Cover plastic wrapped cone with a light layer of petroleum jelly.

 
5. In a bowl, dilute some glue with a bit of water and mix well.

 
6. Begin soaking the string in the glue mixture several inches at a time.

 
7. Starting at the top of the cone, wrap the string around several times, keeping the end of the string tucked under.

8. Continue soaking more string and wrapping it up and down around the cone randomly.

 
9. When you're happy with how much you've wrapped it, cut the string and tuck it under another piece.

 
10. Leave it to dry overnight somewhere rather warm.

 
11. Untuck the plastic wrap from under the cone, then carefully remove the paper.

12. Gently remove the plastic wrap.

 
13. You can leave it as is if you don't want to add the ornaments.

 
14. To add the ornaments, dab some dots of glue onto the tree, then add sugar sprinkles on top.

 
15. When dry, carefully remove any strings of glue from the tree.

16. Enjoy your new decor. These make great centerpieces. They also look cute with LED votive candles inside of them. Happy holidays!
