Upcycled Calendar Christmas Wreath

Upcycled Calendar Christmas Wreath - finished wreathI hate throwing away calendars from the previous years. I tend to keep the better pieces of large artwork from the nicer ones, then use the pages from lesser desired pages to do crafts. This is a Christmas wreath made of those pages. With a little help from my firethorn bush, it makes a beautiful wreath for the holidays. This is a great upcycling craft for all ages. Out with the old, in the with the new!

Total Time: 1 hour

Yield: 1 wreath

Supplies:

Steps:

  1. Pull out full pages from your calendar. The more pages you use, the bigger and fuller the wreath. Fold each page in half once.
  2. Upcycled Calendar Christmas Wreath - remove pages from calendar and fold in half

  3. On the side opposite of the fold, use your ruler to make marks at every inch. Make the same marks on the folded side.
  4. Upcycled Calendar Christmas Wreath - make 1 inch marks on the open and folded edges

  5. Connect the two guidelines to make long strip marks.
  6. Upcycled Calendar Christmas Wreath - connect the marks to make strips

  7. Cut across using the guidelines.
  8. Upcycled Calendar Christmas Wreath - cut along the lines

  9. Now cut each strip at the folded section.
  10. Upcycled Calendar Christmas Wreath - cut each strip at the fold

  11. Glue the ends of each strip together to make little teardrop shapes.
  12. Upcycled Calendar Christmas Wreath - glue each strip together to form a teardrop shape

  13. Take two of the teardrops and glue them together at the base to make a heart shape.
  14. Upcycled Calendar Christmas Wreath - glue two teardrops together at the base to make a heart shape

  15. Pinch together and hold for a moment to secure. Continue to make more hearts. I made about 20 for this wreath.

  17. Now glue the bottom of each heart into the top of another.
  18. Upcycled Calendar Christmas Wreath - glue the base into the top of each heart

  19. Continue with the rest of the hearts to make a long chain, then glue the first heart to the last heart to make a big ring.
  20. Upcycled Calendar Christmas Wreath - continue to make a long chain and then connect to make a circle

  21. Place glue on the greenery stems and attach to your wreath. I used the one with the berries on top and plain foliage below.

I used to want to eat them when I was a little one. Now I know it's best just to look at!
