Realistically if you have any plants at home you can cut to put into this planter (I am using pothos - they are an extremely easy plant to propagate and care for). Next you will need is hot glue/super glue you can make this project for little to no money if you have the supplies already from home.

If not this project is still reasonably priced to make:

- 25 ornaments ($11.99): https://www.michaels.com/25ct.-3in-plastic-iridescent-clear-ball-ornaments-by-artminds/10639161.html
- 30 foot twine ($1.49) : https://www.michaels.com/ivory-jute-twine-spool-by-recollections/10401476.html

Total Time: 15 minutes

Supplies:

  3. Glue ornament to a wooden base (or something that could keep the ornament bulb upright).

  5. Time to decorate ornament bulb with twine. I wrapped twine around the base for a nice texture (that could be seen at the bottom) and wrapped around the bulb. Hot glue to secure everything in place.
  6. Propagating Plants Inside a Christmas Ornament Bulb - beginning to wrap twine around the base

  7. Add water and your plant cutting! Enjoy and wait for your plant to get roots.

I love this idea! An idea for a no-cost base for upcyclers: A cap from a milk jug.
