Snowman Made of Plastic Cups

Silver Post Medal for All Time! 449 Posts

finished snowmanI still have two more half spheres of plastic cups which I previously turned into a chandelier. One is small and the other one is big so I got the idea of making another decoration which is a snowman. Click here to see how to assemble the drinking cups into a half sphere Making a Disposable Cup Christmas Chandelier.

Supplies:

Steps:

  1. Using hot glue, stick the two half spheres into position. Place the small one on top of the big one.
  2. two half spheres made of plastic drinking cups lying on floor after gluing

  3. Support the big one with a piece of string so it won't fall as the glue is still hot and soft.
  4. larger half sphere anchored to a shelf for support

  5. Make the belt. Fold the black cartolina horizontally into about a 1 1/2 inch strip and cut. Next, cut a piece of white cardboard paper into a square and fold it twice. Cut a rectangular shape on the fold so it would create two rectangle holes.

  7. Insert the cut out cartolina into the two rectangle holes so it would look like a belt with a buckle.

  9. Stick it around the waist part of the snowman.

  11. Cut out a moon shape piece of cardboard and cover with crepe paper for the mouth. Now, roll the remaining piece of white cardboard paper into a cone and cover with crepe paper. Stick it in the middle of the small cups.

  13. Cut three big black circles and two small circles. Place the small ones onto the upper sides near the cones.
  14. black paper circles for the eyes and buttons

  15. Stick the three big circles above the belt in vertical alignment. This will be the buttons.
  16. Make a half top hat by cutting the cartolina into a rectangular form about 3x4 inches. Trace a bigger circle and cut it into two, one should be smaller than the other. Roll the rectangle and stick it into the small circle following its shape. Next stick the other end onto the bigger circle. Stick it into the snowman's head.
