Repairing Cord with Outdoor Christmas Ornament?

The cord leading from the dachshund Christmas lawn decoration we bought last year to the plug is cut. It's a dual cord, one half is intact and the other is severed. Is there a way to patch it together safely as an outdoor ornament?

It probably has a sealed plug at the end of the cord, right? Get a new plug that can be taken apart to fit the wire ends into inside connectors, OR get one of the PUSH IN replacement plugs. Either one will work, but you will have to strip off a bit of the plastic sheathing from the ends of the two wires. For the push in type, you may not need to strip much, but for the other plug, you will need to trim off about 1/2 inch of the sheathing from each wire, then wrap the wire ends around each screw threading, making a wire loop that will be caught under the screw head, and then tighten the screw to hold the loop of wire underneath the head.

Then you put the plug back together. Either fix should work fine. Good luck and Happy Holidays to all.

I'd just wind a 100 LED light set around the dog & secure w/ wire bread ties as needed. Hope you can get your yard decoration fixed somehow b/c it is really cute. :-)

If you're not in the US, some answers may not be correct for you.
It looks like you may be in Canada.

I would suggest you take your dachshund to your local Ace or True Value Hardware Store (or any smaller hardware store) and ask them for help.
Usually, the smaller hardware stores will spend more time helping customers than the larger stores.
This could be immediate help.
